I have always found it interesting that God chose not to incude darkness as a creation. It just is. Darkness exists. God purposefully created light, divided light from dark, creating what we know as day and night today. How awesome, God spoke and light appeared! Four words, “Let there be light.” Talk about power in words!
The words of the Bible have great power too. Psalm 119:130NKJV is one of my favorite verses: “The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.” I am grateful my heart is open to the word. He speaks to me through His word. He teaches me through His word. He comforts me through His word. I am grateful for the power of His word!
I love that God bestows individual gifts. I am in awe of those creative souls who put words to music creating a beautiful sacrifice of worship to the Lord. It is wonderful to be led in worship by such talented people. My spirit rejoices! Michael W. Smith’s version of Here I Am To Worship is one such song. The melody runs through my head and I frequently find myself humming the tune. As I let the music flow over, around, and through my being I am encompassed by light no darkness can pierce.
Light of the World
You stepped down into darkness
Christ stepped out of heaven and entered the darkness. How awesome is that! He left his throne in a place where darkness cannot exist for where God lives, there can be no darkness. It will be wonderful to see when God calls me to himself–my mind cannot wrap itself around the beauty of God’s home.
Open my eyes
Let me see
Beauty that made
This heart adore You
Hope of a life
Spent with You
He opened my eyes and I see, in the world around me, the beauty of creation. I feel in my heart the adoration He gave me for Him. Because of Him I have faith and hope. It is amazing I will spend my life with Him for eternity.
Here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You’re my God
You’re altogether lovely
Altogether wonderful to me
The song also serves to remind me to worship Him and that He is my God. He is lovely, worthy and wonderful to me. He gives me only good things! Wow. God, taking the time to give me good things!
Humbly You came
To the earth You created
All for love’s sake became poor
Christ came to earth with no fan fare. He could have arrived with trumpets and set up His kingdom. He didn’t, He had to fulfill the purpose of His life on earth…becoming sin for me so I could be reconciled to God. Forgiven, released from the penalty of sin!
I’ll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
I am grateful God hasn’t revealed to me the exact part my sin caused in His suffering. He was scourged, beaten, spit upon, crucified, denied, and mocked. He did it all so I could belong to the Father and my name would be written in His book, guaranteeing me an eternal home with Him in heaven.
Heaven, where darkness does not exist!
